3 main reasons for circuit breaker tripping

Air switch is a kind of circuit breaker. The main switch we often talk about at home usually refers to air switch and leakage switch. But I don’t know if you have encountered any of these problems with the main switch in your home, that is, frequent trips, especially in summer, when the air conditioner is turned on, it will trip. What is the problem? Today we will come together to give you some tips.

Reason 1: There is a short circuit

The function of the air switch is to protect the safety of the entire circuit. Once a short circuit is detected in the wire, it will directly trip and disconnect the circuit to achieve the purpose of protecting the circuit. The short circuit means the neutral wire and the live wire without passing through the electrical appliances. , Directly connected together to form a loop, at this time, an infinite current will be generated, which is easy to instantly burn electrical appliances and wires, causing fire.

So if this is the case, we must keep the circuit breaker in a power-off state, and then hire a professional electrician to investigate hidden dangers and restore power after ensuring safety.

Reason 2: Overload protection

Tripping caused by overload protection is the most common cause of tripping. We often encounter this kind of thing when we turn on the air conditioner in summer. For example, the rated current of an air switch is 16A. Once the current exceeds this value, it will automatically trip.

If this happens, we can turn off some high-power electrical appliances in the home first, and then restore power. At home, we should try to avoid using some high-power electrical appliances at the same time to avoid excessive heating of the circuit.

Reason 3: Leakage

Another reason for home tripping is that there is a leakage. Some circuit breakers with leakage protection will automatically disconnect the circuit whenever it detects a leakage in the circuit. If this happens, we must first make sure there are no traces of water around the electrical appliances in the home, such as air conditioners, refrigerators and other electrical appliances that are leaking. If it is safe, we will press the leakage button on the circuit breaker, and then Just hit the main gate.

If the air switch at home frequently trips, there must be a reason. We must be patient to investigate carefully and pay attention to it. Otherwise, if an accident occurs, the consequences will be unimaginable.
